(To be honest, I had been a grownup for some time.) We were served them once when I was a child and my father looked down at his plate and said "I am <i>not</i> eating these." So of course me and my brother and sister refused too. Something so horrible that even an adult would not eat it? Nevair! Years later I was forced to eat some out of politeness and realized what I had been missing. I too did not know the glory of brussels sprouts until I was a grownup.
